
Adding Omega-3 fatty acids to a rich carbohydrate diet improves a person’s mood and reduces depression. Researchers found that many of their depressed and bipolar patients had low levels of Omega 3 in their systems. When given Omega 3 supplements,many times the moods elevated and stabilized.
This means eating a handful of omega-3-rich walnuts and/or flaxseeds daily,and three servings of cold water fish,such as salmon and sardines each week. At the same time cut back on sources of omega-6 fats,such as beef,corn,palm,peanut,safflower and sunflower oils.
