What a very disturbing story. My wife was diagnosed with a mental issue and was hospitalized 3 times. Seeing that within Winnipeg/Manitoba the doctors are so short in this field she seen a doctor for about 1 hour in 3 weeks of hospitalization. She went to her own familiy doctor and advised her to go to Saskatoon. My wife spent the entire summer in Saskatoon and she is doing much better. Received councelling and seen the proper docotr almost immediately. Manitoba has got to do something. My wife has been back in Winnipeg since June and even though referred to a phychiatrist it is still about 6 months away.
Maybe if doctors were more willing to diagnose mental illness
My husbands grandfather shot himself,my husband hung himself,my youngest son is having debilitating psych health issues requiring medications to keep him out of an institution –expelled in kindergarten from one school for violent and aggressive behaviour, uncontrollable outbursts, running away and sever at risk behaviour, and kicked out of no less then 3 daycares, but I will keep him alive! The crappy thing is the number of people screaming and complaining that mental illness is over diagnosed and over medicated. Maybe if doctors were more willing to diagnose mental illness my husband and his grandfather would still be alive? Opinions when not based on reality and fact are worthless people…..
