I can only speak of my own experience, which is very little, but I think people in the past counted on the church for guidance, doctors, and family all who seem to be in short supply…..churches,are down in attendance,Doctors have little spare time and rushing people thru….and famly seem to be to busy leaving many problems unchecked and growing into more of a bigger problem then they should be.
Society still has a long way to go
“Mental illnesses cost Canada $52 billion annually, according to the Institute of Health Economics.”That alone should make everyone sit up and take notice. Society has come far in accepting the validity of mental illness but still has a long way to go. Sadness is not the same thing as depression. Shyness or nervousness are not the same thing as an anxiety disorder. Depression and anxiety disorders are debilitating illnesses that can seriously impact one’s quality of life.
