RECOVERY from mental illness is possible ... with safe and affordable housing and appropriate supports.

Affordable housing for the mentally ill

Since there is a shortage of affordable housing for the people with mental illness, the Government should expand the number of safe, affordable independent housing units in order make recovery possible.

The Federal Government should increase the funding for provincial governments and non-profit groups to provide housing for the mentally ill.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Hi ____________________,

I am concerned about the growing number of people who are mentally ill. The good news is that we now know that recovery is possible! For many individuals, recovery means a way of living a satisfying, hopeful, and productive life even with limitations caused by the illness; for others, recovery means the reduction or complete remission of symptoms related to mental illness.

Like so many other people, I would like to be able to do something to help them into a safe home … everyone needs a place to call home. So, I am asking everyone I know to go to the website, to learn more about mental health homelessness and what can be done about it.

Could you help me spread the word? Just copy this email (or write your own) and send it to your friends and colleagues … maybe they would like to spread the word as well.

By the way, ask them to request the newsletter, Homes to Heal,  to keep up to date about mental illness and recovery.

Thank you so much.
