VANCOUVER,BC:
– Over 200 guests at the annual Celebration of Hope breakfast reached deep into their pockets to raise more than $60,000 for Coast Mental Health Thursday morning in Vancouver. This inspiring event provided an opportunity to hear from people whose lives have been changed forever because of Coast.
Catherine Andrews spoke first-hand on how their son almost lost his life to mental illness and his successful path to recovery thanks to the help of Coast.
Michael Faithfull,Coast Director and Peer Support Worker, shared his personal story of hope and recovery after a battle that drove him away from family and friends to a life alone wandering the streets.
Darrell Burnham,Executive Director of Coast, spoke about the pride that comes from being able to make a positive change in the lives of others,“People can and do learn, change and grow. Having a bit of faith in someone can and does work miracles. Consistently believing in someone, even before they are able to believe in themselves, lends them hope until they find their own”.
